The employees of the Department shall be employed by the Village Mayor, by and with the consent of the Board. The Village Mayor, by and with the consent of the Board, may designate one such employee of the Department as the Chief of Police. Employees of the Department shall work such hours each week as designated by the Village Mayor, but not to exceed the maximum number of hours established by the Board or Village Mayor, unless previously specifically authorized in writing by the Village Mayor.
