§ 33.17 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY; DUTIES AND POWERS GENERALLY.
   (A)   The Director of Public Safety (Director) shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Public Safety and shall fulfill all responsibilities pertaining to his or her department including, but not limited to, personal management, planning and organization, budget preparation and control, establishing polices and procedures, training of personnel, vehicle and facility maintenance, fire service communications, inventory control, emergency scene management/coordination, fire prevention and education activities, and submitting necessary records and reports pertaining to the Department of Public Safety.
   (B)   The Director of Public Safety shall be appointed by the City Council.
   (C)   The Director shall have full authority to reprimand, suspend or discharge any member, whether paid or volunteer, who fails to comply with the Department’s rules and regulations, or procedures in accordance with the city’s personnel policies.
