The 2018 International Fire Code is further amended in Section 903 to read as follows:
Amending Section 903 - "Automatic sprinklers are required in all structures having more than 6,000 square feet of habitable/occupiable space. Sprinklers may be omitted in bathrooms, toilet rooms, closets, halls, storage, or utility spaces. All square footage under roof is used for sprinkler requirement calculations. Smaller commercial buildings may be required to be sprinkled based on occupancy class, type and hazard level."
