(A) A police officer is justified in using his baton as a means of self-defense when he is assaulted by one or more persons of physical strength superior to himself, and then only to protect himself from injury or where there is danger of his being overpowered and losing his prisoner.
(B) He is justified in using his revolver in defense of his own or another's life when attacked with a deadly weapon, or in active pursuit of an escaping criminal charged with a felony who cannot be apprehended in any other manner.
