It is unlawful for any person, including minors, to commit shoplifting. A person commits shoplifting if he or she knowingly or intentionally conceals or carries away, with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of its use or benefit, any item or items of merchandise offered for sale or display within a retail store where the aggregate retail value of the item or items does not exceed $2,000.
