It is unlawful for any person to write a bad check. A person is guilty of writing a bad check when he or she issues to an individual or entity, located within the town, a check or similar sight order for payment of money, in an amount less than $2,000, knowing that he or she had a closed bank account, or did not have sufficient funds in or on deposit with the bank or other drawee for the payment in full of the check as well as all other checks outstanding at the time of issuance.
