1-5-1: VILLAGE MAYOR 1 :
   A.   Powers: The village mayor shall be the chief executive of the village and shall be responsible for the enforcement of all laws and ordinances. He, or the mayor pro tem, shall preside at all meetings of the board of trustees. (Ord. 105-58, 7-15-1958; amd. Ord. 1125-05, 5-16-2005)
   B.   Bond: Before entering upon the duties of office, the village mayor shall execute a bond, with security, to be approved by the mayor and board of trustees. The bond shall be payable to the village in whatever penal sum may be directed by resolution, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of the office and the payment of all monies received by such officer, according to the law and also the ordinances of the village. Such bond may provide that the obligation of the sureties shall not extend to any loss sustained by the insolvency, failure or closing of any bank organized and operating either under the laws of the state or the United States wherein such officer has placed funds in his custody, if the bank has been approved by the mayor and board of trustees as a depository for these funds. All bonds shall be filed with the village clerk. To the extent that the village participates in any self-insurance risk pool which provides public officials fidelity, crime and honesty (dishonesty) coverages equivalent to or in excess of the bonding requirements set forth in this section, and for so long as such coverages are provided, the bonding requirements of this section shall be deemed satisfied.    C.   Mayor Pro Tem: One of the board of trustees shall be chosen by the board of trustees to act as mayor pro tem in the absence of the mayor. (Ord. 105-58, 7-15-1958; amd. Ord. 1125-05, 5-16-2005)
