7-7-7: VARIANCE:
A variance is a relaxation of the terms of this chapter where such variance will not be contrary to the public interest and where, owing to conditions peculiar to the property and not the result of the actions of the applicant, a literal enforcement of this chapter would result in unnecessary and undue hardship. As used in this chapter, a variance is authorized only for the location of a mail receptacle on a property.
   A.    Initiation Of A Request For A Variance: Any person owning property may initiate a request for a variance on their property by filling out a city form.
   B.    Consideration Of Request For Variance By City Council: The applicant or a representative may appear before the council to answer questions concerning the proposed variance. The city council shall have the authority, by majority vote, to approve a location variance for a mail receptacle. (Ord. 247, 6-9-2008)
