7-7-5: INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:
   A.    Approval Of Application: Customers should ensure that their application has been approved with their USPS postmaster before purchasing and installing any delivery equipment.
   B.    Allowance Of One Mail Receptacle: Only one mail receptacle is allowed per parcel. Each mail receptacle is designated for the exclusive use of the property owner where it is located.
   C.    Mail Receptacle Placement: Mail receptacle placement is designated as within the boulevard in the first four feet (4') from the left edge of the property driveway (left determined by standing on street and facing the house).
   D.    Fire Hydrants: No mail receptacles are allowed within seven feet (7') of a fire hydrant.
   E.    Mail Receptacle: The city of Hawley has approved two (2) mailbox types/materials, two (2) box designs, and a minimum and maximum size that are allowed within city limits.
      1.    Approved mailbox types/materials:
         a.    Aluminum, powder coated mailbox, or
         b.    Steel, painted or rust resistant finish mailbox.
      2.    Approved mailbox designs:
         a.    Traditional design and shape, or
         b.    Rectangular design and shape.
         c.    Both of any color, with flag.
      3.    Approved size range for mailboxes:
         a.    Minimum size: Six and one-half inches wide by seven and one-half inches high by seventeen inches deep (61/2"W x 71/2"H x 17"D).
         b.    Maximum size: Nine and one-half inches wide by fifteen inches high by twenty two inches deep (91/2"W x 15"H x 22"D).
   F.    Mail Receptacle Post: The city of Hawley has two (2) approved post supports for a curbside receptacle/mailbox that are allowed within city limits. No solid nor cement support may rise up above the boulevard surface.
      1.    Swing away mail receptacle posts: These posts swing to the side if hit by a vehicle and allow snow storage area under the mailbox as the pole is installed at least three feet (3') behind the curb line.
      2.    Pole mailbox support that is placed two feet (2') behind curb line with an extending arm to place mailbox at proper curb distance.
   G.    Installation Of Mail Receptacle Post: Property owner is responsible to make a Gopher State locate call forty eight (48) hours prior to installation of a mail receptacle post. Once the lot is marked the property owner needs to take appropriate precautions to avoid utility lines while installing their post.
   H.    Location: Location subject to state laws and regulations, a curbside mailbox must be placed to allow safe and convenient delivery by carriers without leaving their vehicles. (Ord. 247, 6-9-2008)
