6-1-1: STATE HIGHWAY CODE:
   A.    State Highway Code Adopted By Reference:
      1.    Code Adopted: The regulatory provisions of the Minnesota statutes chapter 169, as amended, are hereby adopted as the traffic ordinance regulating the use of the highways, streets and alleys within the city, and are hereby incorporated in and made part of this title as completely as if set out in full herein.
      2.    Penalty: Any violation of the statutes adopted by reference in subsection A1 of this section is a violation of this title when it occurs within the city. Any person violating any provisions of this title shall be guilty of such offense and shall be punished by penalty as is prescribed by such statutes. (Ord. 134, 7-24-1972)
   B.    Definitions: Any term used in this title and defined in Minnesota statutes section 169.01 has the meaning given it by that section.
   C.    Police Duties: The designated law enforcement agency of the city shall enforce the provisions of this title and the state traffic laws. Police officers are authorized to direct all traffic within the city, either in person or by means of visible or audible signal, in conformity with this title and the state traffic laws. During a fire or other emergency or to expedite traffic or safeguard pedestrians, police officers may direct traffic as conditions require, notwithstanding the provisions of this title and the state traffic laws. Officers of the fire department may direct or assist the police in directing traffic at the scene of a fire or in the immediate vicinity. (Ord. 158, 9-10-1979)
