No person shall maintain in the city a kennel where dogs or cats are kept without securing a license from the city council. The license fee shall be set by the council. The kennel fee shall be in addition to the license fee prescribed in the preceding sections for each dog or cat kept in such kennel. The city may require as a condition for a kennel license an environmental plan, fencing, inspection of the premises, and other restrictions that the city deems necessary to ensure the health and welfare of the community and the pets contained at the kennel. The maximum number of dogs or cats allowed by a kennel license shall not exceed six (6) over six (6) months of age. (Ord. 243, 4-23-2007)
