It shall be unlawful to keep or harbor in the city any of the following animals, or animals of allied genera: horses, cows, sheep, goats, swine, chickens, animals of the genus reptilia or allied genera which are venomous or of the constrictor type, birds or other animals the keeping in captivity of which is prohibited by law. For land zoned "transitional", or land directly adjacent to the Hawley Rodeo Grounds, the city council may consider granting a written variance for horses and/or cattle. This variance must document specific animal type, specific animal count, fencing, insurance requirements, length of permit, etc., requirements as they deem fit. (Ord. 243, 4-23-2007)
