The primary purposes and objectives of the Street Tree Commission shall include the following:
(a) The Commission, when requested by Council or the Mayor, shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter or question regarding the street or park trees.
(b) To hold regular and special meetings at which the subject of trees insofar as it relates to the municipality may be discussed by the members of the Commission, officers, personnel, and Council committees of the municipality and all other interested in the tree program.
(c) To disseminate approved news and information regarding the selection, planting and maintenance of trees within the corporate limits, whether the same be on private or public property.
(d) To establish the recommended species and varieties of trees to be planted in the public right of way, tree lawns, boulevard islands, cul-de-sac islands, and other public places.
(e) To implement an Arbor Day observance on an annual basis.
(f) To establish and maintain, on an annual basis, an inventory of Village Street Trees.
All formal actions and/or recommendations of the Street Tree Commission are subject to the approval by majority vote of Council before such actions may take effect. All such formal actions and/or recommendations of the Street Tree Commission, once made in writing, shall be considered for approval at the next regularly scheduled meeting of Council or as soon as practicable thereafter.
