(a) Any person who is issued a citation for a violation of the City of Harrison fire code shall be given notice of a hearing in Mayor's Court. The person responsible for the violation shall appear in Mayor's Court, unless the violation is remedied and any fines imposed are paid prior to the date of the hearing.
(b) The Mayor's Court authority also has the authority to alter the fine that is assessed by the fire chief, based on the gravity of the violation, the good faith of the person being charged, and the history of previous violations. However, no fine may be higher than one thousand dollars ($1,000) per violation, and each day in defiance of the fire code, after a citation is issued, counts as a separate violation.
(c) Any decision of the City of Harrison Mayor's Court may be appealed to the Court of Common Pleas in Hamilton County, Ohio.
