The building official may request and shall receive so far as may be necessary in the discharge of his duties, the assistance and cooperation of other officials of the city. The city clerk, in addition to all other duties as elsewhere provided in the city's code of ordinances for the city clerk, shall assist the building official by issuing building permits as requested and directed by the building officials.
