Prior to issuance of a license under this chapter, the police department shall conduct a complete background inquiry of the applicant. The applicant shall be personally interviewed by the chief of police and the applicant's photograph and fingerprints shall be obtained. Each such applicant shall be interviewed as to his ability to safely handle firearms. After having been so interviewed, he shall satisfactorily demonstrate his ability to properly and safely handle firearms. (Prior Code, Sec. 5-29)
