(A) The Board of Commissioners shall appoint an Advisory Board to assist in facilitating the purposes of this subchapter. The Board shall consist of five members appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The Advisory Board shall serve terms as specified in its appointments, not exceeding four years, and shall have the duties and responsibilities specified herein and such others as the Board of Commissioners may, from time to time, determine.
(B) The members of the Advisory Board shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners from the public at large.
(C) The functions and powers of the Advisory Board shall be as follows:
(1) To review applications for permits required herein upon request of the Board of Commissioners;
(2) To carry out functions assigned by this subchapter;
(3) To promote safety and health in the management of hazardous and low-level radioactive wastes; and
(4) To provide a forum for citizens and industry in the regulatory process.
