Any person so discriminated against may secure the city’s assistance by contacting the city. If the city, upon hearing the complaint, determines that such a violation does in fact exist, it may take action, including the following three options:
(A) Attempt to informally resolve the dispute;
(B) Refer the matter to the City Attorney; or
(C) Refer the matter to the Michigan Department of Civil Rights for investigation.
