§ 71.18 EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR A SCHOOL BUS.
   Every school bus shall, in addition to any other equipment and distinctive marking required by laws, be equipped with signal lamps mounted as high and widely spaced laterally as practicable which shall be capable of displaying to the front two alternately flashing red lights located at the same level and to the rear two alternately flashing red lights located at the same level. Said lights shall be no less than six inches in diameter and shall have sufficient intensity to be visible from the distance of at least 500 feet in normal sunlight and shall be actuated by the driver of said school bus whenever, but only whenever, such vehicle is stopped or is about to stop for the purpose of receiving or discharging school children.
