(A) A buyer may assume responsibility for correcting violations listed on the inspection checklist by executing a notarized affidavit provided by the Building Department. The affidavit must clearly state the buyer's intent to address all violations within six months of the affidavit's date or by the inspection report expiration date, whichever is later.
(B) If violations are not corrected and approved within the specified timeframe, the Building Department may prohibit occupancy. An extension may be granted by the Code Official if weather or other uncontrollable conditions delay compliance.
(C) If the buyer is unable to complete all required corrections within the specified period, an extension may be requested by submitting a written request to the Building Department before the compliance deadline. The Building Official may grant an extension at their discretion, taking into consideration any reasonable factors presented by the buyer, including, but not limited to, weather conditions, financial hardship, contractor availability, or other personal or logistical challenges affecting the completion of repairs. The extension request must outline the progress made on corrections to date and provide an anticipated timeline for completing the remaining items. The Building Official will review the request based on the good faith efforts demonstrated and may grant an extension if deemed appropriate.
