This subchapter is enacted for the purpose of establishing an Historical Commission in the city to identify, assemble, collect and preserve objects, material, writings, buildings and sites relating to the history and culture of the city and its citizens, both past and present; and to assist the State Historical Commission in carrying out its powers and duties under Public Act 271 of 1913, being M.C.L.A. §§ 399.1 through 399.10, as amended.
