It shall be unlawful for any person in the city to break and enter, or to attempt to break or enter without breaking at any time any outside showcase or other outside enclosed counter used for the display of goods, wares or merchandise with the intent to steal or to commit the crime of larceny therein and upon conviction violations hereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $200 and costs of prosecution, or by imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or by both a fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.
