§ 90.009 ANIMAL SHELTER.
   An animal shelter shall be utilized by the city at a place and location as shall be selected and designated by the City Manager and approved by the City Council.
   (A)   The owner of an animal impounded under the provisions of this chapter may claim the animal by properly identifying as the owner of the animal and upon meeting the following conditions:
      (1)   Payment of an impounding fee and any required micro-chipping fees;
      (2)   Payment of a boarding fee for each 24 hours or fraction thereof that the animal is held, after the first 24 hours, any and all fees required;
      (3)   The showing of a dog license for the dog, or if the dog has no license, then the securing of a license and the showing of proof of vaccination of the dog for rabies, as long as the dog is over six months of age.
   (B)   All fees shall be paid by the owner or responsible agent of the animal impounded regardless if the animal is surrendered or claimed and failure to do so is a violation of this chapter. The shelter may waive costs at their discretion.
