§ 34.003 FIRE DEPARTMENT; FIRE CHIEF; POWER AND DUTIES.
   (A)   The Fire Department shall be headed by a Fire Chief, who shall be charged with the prevention and extinguishment of fires, the protection of life and property against fire, and the removal of fire hazards. The Fire Chief shall be responsible for the maintenance and care of all property used by the Fire Department.
   (B)   Divisions of Fire Department; Extinguishment Division.
      (1)   The Extinguishment Division shall be responsible for the extinguishment of fires, the saving of life and property from fire, and the performance of various miscellaneous public services of an emergency nature.
      (2)   The divisions of the Fire Department and the responsibilities thereof shall be set forth in departmental regulations.
   (C)   The City Manager may assign other duties and responsibilities to the Fire Department as necessary for the operation of the city; these may be assigned to an existing division or additional division as deemed necessary.
