§ 48-15. Employees to be covered.
[Amended 2-25-2002 by Ord. No. 5-2002; 4-28-2008 by Ord. No. 10-2008 6; 4-25-2022 by Ord. No. 001-2022]
The Town of Hammonton shall provide coverage to those employees that are considered full time only, excluding elected officials. All terms and conditions of coverage shall be specified in the appropriate employee contract. Employees that obtain full-time status shall be provided coverage as soon as practicable, taking into consideration the requirements of the medical insurance provider. If an employee is already covered by virtue of an insurance plan offered by an employer other than the Town of Hammonton, or by the employee's spouse's employer, or otherwise, the employee may elect to waive the Town's insurance benefit plan and may elect compensation in lieu of benefits as permitted by the New Jersey Health Insurance Plan. Elected officials are also excluded from the election of compensation in lieu of benefits.
   A.   The Town will continue to provide retiree health insurance benefits to non-union employees hired by the Town as a full-time employee prior to January 1, 2014, who retire with 25 years or more of full-time service with the Town, including premiums on their dependents, if any, subject to contributions by employees based upon the schedule set forth in Chapter 78, P.L. 2011, a copy of which is attached to Ord. No. 001-2022 as Schedule A (except for employees who vested retirement health insurance benefits prior to the enactment of Chapter 78, P.L. 2011); and
   B.   The Town will provide retiree health insurance benefits to employees who retire at age 62 or older who have worked for the Town for at least 15 years, provided the retiree pays a portion of the premium for such health insurance coverage. The portion of the premium to be paid by the employee shall be based upon the schedule set forth in Chapter 78, P.L. 2011, a copy of which is attached to Ord. No. 001-2022 as Schedule A. This provision encompasses employees who have retired and reached the minimum age of 62 years or older with at least 15 years of service with the Town of Hammonton, and shall include the premiums for their dependents, if any.
6.   Editor's Note: This ordinance also provided that the disqualification of elected officials from electing compensation in lieu of benefits shall be effective 1-1-2008, and the disqualification of elected officials from health insurance coverage shall be effective 1-1-2009.
