§ 48-9. Accumulated sick leave upon retirement.

   All full-time officers and employees of the Town of Hammonton, whether or not such officers or employees are within the classified service under Title 11 of the New Jersey Revised Statutes, including but not limited to members of the Police Department of the Town of Hammonton, who have worked for the Town of Hammonton for 25 years or more are hereby given the right to payment of 75% of the unused accumulated sick leave due said officer or employee upon his or her date of retirement computed at the last salary of said full-time officer or employee at the time of retirement. Said full-time employee or officer shall apply for said accumulated and unused sick leave on his or her day of retirement, to be paid in a lump sum on the first regular meeting date of the Mayor and Common Council of the Town of Hammonton after the effective date of his or her retirement. However, in no case shall any officer or employee of the Town of Hammonton receive upon retirement any accumulated and unused sick leave payment in excess of a maximum total payment of $12,000. This right shall not be retroactive and shall only apply to all retirement subsequent to the effective date of this article.
