(A) Fire Marshal. The Fire Marshal shall hold his or her office for the term of one year or until his or her successor shall be elected and qualified. He or she shall be elected at the first meeting of the Council in the month of May of each year or as soon thereafter as may be practicable.

(B) Security bond. The Fire Marshal shall, before entering office, take and subscribe the oath required of other officers and file same with the City Clerk and shall also execute a bond to the city in the penal sum of $1,000, with surety to be approved by the Council, and conditions of said bond to be the same as in the case of other city officers; and further, he or she will properly care for and turn over to his or her successor in office the machinery, fire apparatus, and other property of said city committed to his or her care in as good condition as when received by him or her, ordinary wear and tear and inevitable accident excepted.

(C) Salary of Fire Marshal. The salary of a Fire Marshal shall be the sum of $___ per annum, payable monthly. Each of the other members of the Fire Department shall receive the sum of $___ for each fire and $___ for each fire drill at which they are present, as shown by the Fire Marshal’s report, to be paid monthly. There shall not be more than __ drills every month and the number of fire drills per year, and the date of the drills are to be at the discretion of the Fire Marshal.
