Rule 890.1510 of the Illinois Plumbing Code, 77 Ill. Adm. Code 890.1510, requires protection of all potable water systems from contamination due to the backflow of contaminants through plumbing connections, fixtures, or appurtenances, and the State Pollution Control Board regulations, 35 Ill. Adm. Code 601.101, et seq., requires an active program of cross-connection control which will prevent the contamination of all public water supply systems due to backflow of contaminants or pollutants through the potable water service connection. In order to accomplish these goals, it is necessary to introduce restrictions that described, in detail, specific procedures and requirements for cross-connection control.
