A. Definition: A "sandwich board sign" is a temporary sign that is generally constructed in such a manner as to form an "A" or a tentlike shape that is placed on, but not permanently attached to the ground. This definition also includes signs of a similar temporary nature that are constructed with a base and a single upward sign face, forming an upside down "T".
B. Conditions: Sandwich board signs are permissible subject to the following conditions:
1. Temporary Display:
a. A sandwich board sign is considered a temporary sign and as such can advertise a special sale for a maximum of thirty (30) days and must include dates.
b. Sandwich board signs may be placed on properties during business hours only and must be taken in at the end of business.
2. Placement:
a. Sandwich board signs shall not be located within a landscaped area, parking space, or vehicular travelway.
b. Sandwich board signs shall not be located more than ten feet (10') from the door of the business or use utilizing the sign.
c. A maximum of one sandwich board sign may be placed per business or tenant on the property where the sandwich board sign(s) is located and be properly secured.
d. Sandwich board signs shall be placed no closer than twenty feet (20') from other sandwich board signs.
e. Sandwich board signs shall be located on the interior of the property and shall not be located within any public right of way and/or sidewalk.
f. Should a sandwich board sign be placed adjacent to a sidewalk, an unobstructed pedestrian clearance must be provided adjacent to the sign.
3. Appearance And Maintenance:
a. The maximum size of a sandwich board sign is twelve (12) square feet with a maximum height of four feet (4') and a maximum width of three feet (3').
b. All signs shall be maintained with fresh paint or lettering and not be left unkempt. All signs shall look neat and professional with an artistic appearance. (2010 Code)
