§ 36.22 SUSPENSION OF FIRE CHIEF.
   (A)   The City Manager shall have the authority to suspend the Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department for a period not to exceed 14 days for any reason deemed sufficient by the City Manager. Prior to any suspension, the City Manager shall, in writing and within 24 hours of such suspension, state the reasons for the suspension. The Fire Chief shall be given the written reasons within a reasonable time of the suspension date. The Fire Chief shall have the right to appeal any suspension to the City Council if such suspension is not terminated prior to any regularly scheduled Council meeting or called Council meeting. Such right of appeal shall be set forth in the operating manual of the Volunteer Fire Department.
   (B)   If the Fire Chief is suspended by the City Manager, the City Manager shall appoint an interim Fire Chief who shall serve until the suspension is lifted or otherwise disposed of.
