§ 36.20 TERMINATION, SUSPENSION, OR RESIGNATION OF MEMBERS.
   (A)   Termination of members. Membership of any volunteer firefighter in the Volunteer Fire Department may be terminated by the Chief for any cause set forth in the operating manual. The Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department and the City Council must both recommend and approve the termination before any volunteer firefighter may be terminated.

   (B)   Suspension of members. The Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department may suspend any volunteer firefighter for a period not to exceed 30 days for any cause set forth in the operating manual of the Volunteer Fire Department. If suspension is imposed, the Chief shall, in writing and within 24 hours of such suspension, state the reasons for the suspension. The volunteer firefighter shall be given the written reasons within a reasonable time of the suspension date. The volunteer firefighter shall have the right to appeal as set out in the operating manual for the Volunteer Fire Department.

   (C)   Resignation of members. A member of the Volunteer Fire Department may resign by delivering his or her resignation to the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. The Volunteer Fire Department Chief shall notify the Mayor and City Council members of any and all resignations, thereby furnishing the Mayor and Council members with an up-to-date roster at all times.
