If the elected official whose removal is sought does not resign, then the City Council shall order an election after the date the petition is presented to the City Council, and set the date for holding such recall election on the next available uniform election date, pursuant to the Texas Election Code. If, after the recall election date is established, the officer vacates his position, the election shall be canceled. Any election order so issued shall fully comply with the Texas Election Code.
