3-2-8: DISPOSAL OF YARD WASTE, GARBAGE AND REFUSE:
   A.   Rules For Disposal:
      1.   All yard waste, garbage and refuse shall be separated and shall be placed in the designated trash receptacles.
      2.   Ashes, oversized furniture, hazardous waste such as car batteries, tires, and construction materials shall not be placed in any trash receptacle.
      3.   Yard waste may be transported to the Guernsey compost area during regular business hours and all loads must be covered or secured in a manner preventing spillage.
      4.   The town of Guernsey sponsors a cleanup week twice a year during which the town will transport collected yard waste, oversized furniture and construction material free of charge which shall not be placed out for pick up earlier than the Friday immediately prior to the first day of cleanup, nor later than seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. the Friday at the end of the specified cleanup week. A household hazardous waste day is held at least once every other year to dispose of batteries, tires and any other household hazardous waste material.
   B.   Penalties: The owner or occupant of any premises shall be liable for compliance with this section. Any person, firm or corporation violating this section shall be charged with a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined any sum not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor to exceed seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00), plus court costs. Violation of this section shall be deemed a separate offense on each day that a violation shall occur. (Ord. 09-10-006, 5-5-2009)
