§ 51.12 DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE.
   (A)   The borough reserves the right to discontinue its service upon reasonable notice in accord with the provisions set forth hereafter in the event the customer is in arrears in the payment of bills for service or fails to comply with these rules and regulations. In case service is discontinued by customer choice or for nonpayment of bills rendered, a charge of $35 will be made for reconnection. Reconnection shall be made during normal working hours of the borough. The reconnection charge, together with all arrearages, shall be paid or payment satisfactorily arranged before the service is resumed. Service discontinuance shall be considered to become effective enabling the reconnection fee to be billed herein when a borough representative is dispatched to perform the actual disconnection.
   (B)   In the event there is any need for restoration or reconnection of service for any reason whatsoever, a restoration or reconnection fee of $35 shall be paid by the customer to the borough prior to such work being commenced.
   (C)   At the borough’s option, in lieu of disconnection of customers for nonpayment, the borough may install load-limiting devices that restrict the amount of power flow to the customer.
   (D)   In cases where the customer expects to be away from the borough for a period in excess of the length of the normal billing period, service may be continued upon proper notification of borough officials responsible for the administration of these rules and regulations, provided that arrangements are made for the payment of bills either during the customer’s absence or promptly upon his or her return. Non-property owners may be required to make deposits in the amount of estimated bills for the anticipated period of their absence.
