§ 155.084 GENERAL CURBS AND SIDEWALK DESIGN STANDARDS.
   (A)   Curbs.
      (1)   Curbing shall be required for the purposes of drainage, safety and delineation and protection of pavement edge.
      (2)   Mountable curbs are preferred, but flexibility regarding curb type (mountable versus vertical) shall be permitted as long as the curb type accommodates the system of drainage proposed.
      (3)   Curbing shall be designed to provide a ramp for bicycles and/or wheelchairs as required by applicable PennDOT standards.
      (4)   Curbing shall be constructed of either portland cement concrete with expansion joints every 20 feet and shall follow PennDOT standards where applicable (see Curb Design Detail) or a bituminous concrete wedge curb which is 18 inches wide by six inches high may be used.
      (5)   Local streets: minimum curb radii at street intersections shall be 20 feet.
      (6)   All other streets: minimum curb radii at street intersections shall be 30 feet, or such greater radius as is suitable to the specific intersection.
   (B)   Sidewalks.
      (1)   The developer shall install sidewalks abutting any public or private street. Such sidewalks may be constructed within the public right-of-way, but shall remain the maintenance responsibility of the property owner. The requirement of sidewalks may be modified in accordance with § 155.127, only where the proposed land use or traffic patterns would indicate another paramount safety concern, such as heavy industrial development with significant truck traffic or other hazards.
      (2)   Minimum widths for sidewalks along each type of public street shall be four feet and shall follow specifications.
      (3)   Sidewalks shall be placed at least five feet from the cartway edge unless already built to the cartway along abutting lots.
