§ 53.018 STANDARDS FOR MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP; MANNER OF LAYING PIPE AND HOUSE SEWER.
   Materials can be cast iron, concrete, vitrified clay, tile, plastic no less grade than Schedule 40, asbestos-cement, copper tube type L, hard temper and all joints shall be watertight and root-proof. In filled ground the sewer will be of cast iron or copper tube of a weight not less than that of copper water tube type L, hard temper, except that non-metallic drains may be used if laid on an approved continuous supporting system approved by the Housing Official. All pipe shall be laid on an up-grade with the bell or socket, if so designed, at the upper end. The sewer shall not be laid closer than five feet to any exterior wall of any building; nor be less than three and one-half feet below the surface of the ground. The sewer shall be covered by hand to a depth of 12 inches above the top of the pipe.
