§ 154.02  DEFINITIONS/USE.
   The regulations contained in this section shall apply to all fences on lot(s) containing residential uses, unless specifically exempted. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings:
   (A)   (1)   Construction materials.
         (a)   Split rail (wooden) or post and rail (wooden or plastic) or wire mesh may be used in conjunction with a split rail or post and rail fence type, in rear and side yards only, provided the mesh is attached to the inside of the fence, does not exceed the height of the highest horizontal members, and the opening of the wire is at least two inches square. No other wire fences, including barb wire or razor wire are permitted.
         (b)   Brown, green or black or vinyl coated chain link or uncoated chain link with openings not less than two inches and not greater than three inches.
         (c)   Picket (wooden or plastic) with vertical members being between three and four inches in width and the spacing between vertical members or pickets is equal to the width of the vertical
member.
         (d)   Wrought iron with open post and rail.
         (e)   Shadow box/board on board with vertical members or pickets installed alternately from one side to the other and the spacing between vertical members or pickets is equal to the width of the vertical member.
      (2)   The above listed material shall be the only materials used in the construction of fences and walls.
   (B)   Setback requirements.
      (1)   The setback requirements of these regulations shall not prohibit any necessary retaining wall or prohibit any wall or fence. However, within the corporate limits of the town, no wall or fence shall exceed:
         (a)   Four feet in height within a front yard; or
         (b)   Six feet in height within a side or rear yard.
      (2)   Fences and walls may project into or may enclose any front yard; however, no fence may be constructed on or in a public street or right-of-way. In no case in a residential zone shall a fence or wall be extended closer to the street right-of-way line than the front corner of the main building situated on the lot or 30 feet from said street right-of-way, whichever is greater.
   (C)   See Zoning Ordinance Article 6, Section 6.7.
   (D)   Enforcement. Shall coincide with Town of Grimesland Zoning Ordinances.
