Sec. 8-51 Forty mile per hour speed limit designation.
   (a)   No person shall drive a motor vehicle in excess of 40 miles per hour on the following:
      (1)   Main Street to a point 1,886 feet west of Howard Road, approximately the Old Cooper Farm House.
      (2)   Smith Valley Road from the east edge of the intersection with Averitt Road west to the City limits.
      (3)   Madison Avenue from the northern edge of the intersection with Fry Road to the intersection with County Line Road.
   (b)   The Street Department shall post appropriate signs and markings on the above described public streets clearly indicating thereon the altered speed limits.
   (c)   Any person who operates a motor vehicle in violation of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in an amount not to exceed Two Thousand Five Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($2,500.00). In his/her discretion, the City Court Judge may also order certain other non-monetary, non-criminal penalties, including, but not limited to, remedial driving training.
