1042.06 BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES ON WATER SUPPLY LINES, EPA RULE 3745-95-04.
   (a)   Consumers of the Water Supplied by the Public Water System. It shall be the duty of the consumer at his or her expense to install or have installed a backflow prevention device at any premises where actual or potential cross-connection to the Public Water System exists.
   (b)   It shall be the duty of the consumer at his or her expense to install or have installed an expansion tank at the time the backflow prevention device is installed at the premises.
   (c)   The operator of the Public Water System shall see that tests and inspections of the backflow device are made at time of installation or repair.
   (d)   The operator of the Public Water System shall inspect the backflow prevention devices once per year.
   (e)   The operator of the Public Water System must make sure records of such inspections, tests, repairs and overhauls be kept by the consumer and made available to the supplier of water.
   (f)   Failure to comply by this section shall result in water being shut off to the premises until the backflow prevention device is installed.
   (g)   The owner of a premises supplied by water by the Public Water System will have until December, 2014 to comply with this regulation. All new construction and current remodeling of premises shall comply with such regulation at time of construction and remodeling.
   (h)   Whomever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and shall be subject to penalty provided in Section 698.02 of these Codified Ordinances.
