SEC. 9-1-77 IN REM ACTION BY CODE ENFORCEMENT COORDINATOR OR OFFICER; PLACARDING.
   (A)   After failure of an owner of a structure to comply with an order of the Code Enforcement Coordinator or officer issued pursuant to the provisions of this article, and upon adoption by the City Council of an ordinance authorizing and directing him or her to do so, as provided by G.S. 160D-1203(5), Session Law 2005-200, and section 9-1-75(C) of this article, the Code Enforcement Coordinator or officer shall proceed to cause the structure to be removed or demolished, as directed by the ordinance of the City Council and shall cause to be posted on the main entrance of the structure a placard prohibiting the use or occupation of the structure. Use or occupation of a building so posted shall constitute a misdemeanor, as provided by G.S. 160D-1203(4).
   (B)   Each such ordinance shall be recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Pitt County, and shall be indexed in the name of the property owner in the grantor index, as provided by G.S. 160D-1203(6).
