      (2)   Where a public water supply system is not reasonably accessible to the subdivision, the subdivider shall be required to install alternate water supply facilities approved by the Town Engineer. In no case shall individual lot wells be allowed unless specifically approved by the Commission and the county’s Board of Health.
   (B)   Design requirements. The design of water supply systems shall be in accordance with the town’s Construction Standards and as recommended by the latest edition of Recommended Standards for Water Works as published by the Health Education Service, Albany, New York.

Water mains shall be sized as required for the application based on needed peak demands and fire flows but in no case shall be less than six inches in diameter unless specifically approved by the town. The town reserves the right to approve or modify the proposed water main size as it relates to existing and proposed water main connections.
      (3)   Cover. Unless specifically approved otherwise by the town, all water mains shall be buried with a minimum cover of 60 inches.
      (4)   Fire hydrants. Fire hydrants shall be placed a minimum of four feet from streets or curbs and shall be spaced a maximum of 500 feet apart.
