(A) As part of the lift station equipment, the contractor shall provide a permanently- mounted standby diesel generator sized as required to operate the lift station pumps. The generator shall be as manufactured by Kohler Power Systems.
(B) (1) The generator engine shall be four-cycle, four- or six-cylinder and radiator and fan cooled.
(2) The engine shall be cooled using a skid-mounted, closed-loop radiator, fan and coolant pump. It shall use a 50/50 water/ethylene glycol mixer for coolant.
(C) A diesel engine generator system shall be equipped with necessary operating accessories such as a radiator, fan, air cleaners, lubricating oil pump, fuel-transfer pump, fuel- injection pump, jacket water pump, governor, charging generator, alternating current generator, exciter regulator, engine block heater and battery charger.
(D) The engine fuel system shall be designed for operation for No. 2 diesel fuel. It shall have a secondary fuel filter, water separator, fuel- shutoff solenoid valve and fuel pump.
(E) The generator set shall be mounted on a steel base through vibration-isolation springs. The radiator coolant heater shall be supplied to maintain proper coolant temperature for quick- starting of the engine.
(F) The engine generator shall be controlled through microprocessor-based controls. The controls shall include automatic and manual starting and monitoring and control functions. The controller shall be Decision Maker 3+ as manufactured by Kohler.
(G) The generator shall be supplied complete with weatherproof housing, 12-volt battery, float-type battery charger, block heater and integrated fuel storage tank sized to provide a minimum of eight hours of operating fuel.
(H) The generator shall also include a cord and male/female receptacle plugs for connecting the generator to the transfer switch as shown on drawing number 11 in Appendix A of this chapter.
