(A) (1) Major-party candidates for town offices shall be nominated through the method of a primary election.
(2) The nomination of major-party candidates for a town office through the method of political town convention has been abolished.
(B) The county’s Election Board shall conduct primary elections for the nomination of major-party candidates for town offices.
(C) All state statutes governing primary elections for towns shall apply to the nomination of major-party candidates for town offices.
(D) The town shall not change the method of nominating major-party candidates for its town offices for a period of not less than 12 years.
(E) The Town Clerk-Treasurer has filed a copy of this section in the office of the county’s Circuit Court Clerk.
