§ 32.01 STAGGERED TERMS AND ELECTION SCHEDULES.
   (A)   The town shall not conduct any election in a year following an election of the President of the United States of America, as required by I.C. 3-10-7-2.9(c)(1).
   (B)   Commencing in 2014 and thereafter, candidates for all positions which are eligible for election in any given year shall be required to participate in the primary election on the first Tuesday in May of the applicable year if more than one candidate has filed a declaration of candidacy for the given position.
   (C)   The term of office of each officer of the town begins on the January 1 following the election.
   (D)   It is in the best interests of the citizens of the town to have elections for the Town Council and the Clerk-Treasurer coincide with the general elections conducted by the county. Elections for Town Council positions and the Clerk-Treasurer position may be conducted by a general or municipal election.
   (E)   A Town Clerk-Treasurer was elected at a municipal or general election in 2011 for an initial term of three years, thereafter to be elected for a term of four years commencing with the election of 2014.
