(A) Grease, oil and sand interceptors or traps shall be provided by the property owner when they are necessary, in the opinion of the town, for the proper handling of liquid wastes containing grease in excessive amounts or any flammable wastes, sand or other harmful ingredients; however, such interceptors or traps will not be required for private living quarters or dwelling units.
(B) All interceptors or traps shall be of a type and capacity approved by the town and shall be located so as to be readily and easily accessible for cleaning and inspection. They shall be constructed of impervious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature and shall be of substantial construction, gastight, watertight and equipped with easily-removable covers. Where installed, all grease, oil and sand interceptors or traps shall be maintained in continuously efficient operation at all times by the owner at his or her expense, and shall be available for inspection at all times by the town or its designated representative.
(C) Records of the proper cleaning and maintenance of interceptors or traps, and of the disposal of the materials removed, shall be kept at the location and be available for inspection by the Inspector at all times. Said records and the information resulting from the cleaning and disposal activities required by this section, including any records of analyses performed or maintenance on such interceptors or traps, shall be retained for a minimum period of three years.
