§ 153.14 SANITARY SEWER FACILITIES.
   (A)   General requirements.
      (1)   Sanitary sewer facilities shall be installed in a manner prescribed by the city construction standards and specifications. All plans shall be designed in accordance with the rules, regulations and standards of the city and other appropriate state and federal agencies. In addition, the design shall meet or exceed the minimum standards described in the latest edition of Recommended Standards for Wastewater Facilities.
      (2)   The plans and profiles of the sanitary sewer for proposed development shall be prepared and stamped by a registered professional engineer.
      (3)   Sanitary sewer systems shall be designed and installed to serve each lot to grades and sizes required by the approving officials and agencies. Sanitary sewer facilities, including the installation of house service laterals, shall be subject to the specifications, rules, regulations and guidelines of the city construction standards.
      (4)   This chapter shall be used in conjunction with the city Design Standards Manual.
   (B)   Design criteria.
      (1)   All sanitary sewers shall be laid with a straight alignment. See Greensburg Construction Standards, Section 02731, Article 1.5.B., for additional information on line and grade requirements.
      (2)   A minimum of 36 inches of cover shall be provided for all
sanitary sewers.
      (3)   Gravity sewers, when flowing full, shall be designed and constructed with slopes that shall result in mean flow velocities of not less than two feet per second in accordance with the following:

         (b)   Wherever changes occur in grade, size or alignment of the sanitary sewer.
         (c)   At all intersections of sanitary sewers.
      (7)   The distances between any two manholes shall not exceed 400 feet unless approved in writing by the Wastewater Superintendent.
      (8)   All upstream sanitary sewers less than 24 inches from the manhole invert shall be filleted to prevent solids deposition.
      (9)   Drop pipes shall be provided for incoming sanitary sewers entering a manhole at an elevation of 24 inches or more above the manhole invert.
      (10)   Cleanouts shall not be permitted as a substitute for manholes.
