The remonstrance referred to in § 96.16 shall be filed with the Clerk-Treasurer not later than two days prior to the time fixed in the notice for the hearing of the remonstrance, and, if not filed within that time, shall not thereafter be filed. At the time fixed in such notice, the Board of Public Works and Safety shall meet and consider any remonstrance so filed, and shall either overrule or sustain such remonstrance. If such remonstrance be sustained, such proceedings shall be dismissed. If such remonstrance be overruled, the Board shall thereupon enter an order that such sidewalk shall be constructed, improved, or repaired as ordered in the resolution.
