7-2-1: PURPOSE:
The John Wesley Powell river history museum is a facility owned and operated by the city. The purpose of the museum is to collect and display historical material related to the early exploration of the Green and Colorado Rivers and the development of the early history of the city and the west. The museum enhances educational opportunities for citizens of the city and visitors to the area. The museum is an asset to the community and a source of community pride, and the city intends to operate and manage the museum in connection with an advisory board of citizens interested in the purposes for which the museum was founded.
