Each amendment to the thoroughfare plan of the city must be approved according to the procedure set forth in the 500 series of I.C. 36-7-4. If the Common Council wants an amendment, it may direct the Plan Commission to prepare the amendment and submit it in the same manner as any other amendment to the comprehensive plan of the city. The Plan Commission shall prepare and submit the amendment within 60 days after formal written request by the City Council. However, the Common Council may grant an extension of time, of specified duration, in which to prepare and submit the amendment.
