§ 36.140 HOLIDAYS.
   All full-time employees are entitled to paid holidays (subject to change yearly).
   (A)   Paid holidays shall be determined on an annual basis by the Mayor and announced late in the prior year.
   (B)   Any hourly full-time employee who is called in or scheduled to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving shall be compensated at one and one-half times his or her regular rate of pay for all hours worked.
   (C)   In observance of each authorized holiday, full-time and part-time employees will normally be granted the day off from work. Only full-time employees shall receive straight time holiday pay for each authorized holiday. Due to the emergency areas covered by the city, some areas are required to work holidays.
   (D)   If a holiday occurs while an employee is on vacation, that vacation day will not be charged against his or her vacation leave.
   (E)   Employees must be in a paid status the day before and the day after a holiday in order to be paid for the holiday.
   (F)   An employee scheduled to return from a non-paid leave on the day after a holiday will not be paid for the holiday. An employee whose leave without pay is approved through the end of the last business day preceding a holiday is also presumed to be on leave during the holiday, and will not receive compensation for the holiday.
   (G)   For members of the Greenfield Police Department who work a full 12-hour shift on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day, they shall be compensated with a “floating holiday” of 12 hours for each such holiday worked, which floating holiday must be taken during the same calendar year in which it is earned and cannot be carried over to the next calendar year. Members of Greenfield Police Department shall not receive compensation at one and one-half, times his or her regular rate of pay for hours worked on Thanksgiving Day regardless of other provisions contained within this section in lieu of receiving a floating holiday. Any and all floating holidays must be taken as one continuous 12-hour period and may not be broken up into smaller hourly increments. Members of Greenfield Police Department shall not be permitted to have more than two unused floating holidays accumulated at anyone time.
